Neuropsychological Assessments

PsyCare offers a range of neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation services. Areas of assessment include: intellectual functioning, memory and learning abilities, verbal abilities, processing speed, attention and concentration, problem solving abilities, executive functioning skills, and skills such as reading and writing. Evaluations encompass a comprehensive interview and testing and are designed to enhance the individual’s academic and work-related performance and social functioning.

Neuropsychological services may be useful for those who have experienced an injury/accident and require rehabilitation before returning to work, assessing an individual’s cognitive capacity and improving cognitive skills through specialised training. Additionally, an assessment can be of benefit for children or adolescents who have difficulties in school including academic, behavioural and or emotional problems.

Disability Services and Support

PsyCare offers comprehensive community based behavioural assessment and intervention packages to assist with the management and reduction of challenging behaviour. PsyCare consultants utilise a number of positive behavioural support strategies that operate within current legislative guidelines; with a focus on improving the client’s overall lifestyle and well-being. PsyCare also provides individual counselling and psychological interventions aimed at assisting clients and their families to cope better with psychological stressors and achieve better outcomes.

Fitness for Work

PsyCare offers state of the art specialised fitness for work evaluations targeting neuropsychological issues (i.e. attention, memory, problem solving), drug and alcohol concerns, psychological injury and health, and occupational violence. We also provide psychological fitness evaluations for licensing purposes for holding a weapon. All these evaluations use evidence based evaluation methods linked to functional considerations for the referrer.

Medico-Legal

PsyCare provides medico-legal specialist psychological assessments and expert opinion on civil and criminal matters. Evaluations for civil matters include personal injury, criminal injury compensation, and worker’s compensation. Concerning criminal matters for contest and plea, evaluations include fitness to plea and to stand trial, witness competency and pre-sentencing. These evaluations comply with rules of evidence and reflect state of the art multi-method, multi source, multi-domain assessment methods.

Child, Family & Social Assessments

PsyCare offers comprehensive psychological child and family assessments including: social assessment, parenting assessment, child-parent observations, child or youth assessment, assessment tailored to terms of reference guided by statutory intervention or government agencies, and attachment family assessment. Assessment may be indicated by statutory involvement, Family Law court matters, custodial disputes, family difficulties or child/youth difficulties. Comprehensive reports are provided on completion of the assessment process, and are available to be used as evidence for court matters. PsyCare Consultant Psychologists also have experience providing expert witness evidence in a court setting.

Drug & Alcohol Assessments

Drug and alcohol assessments are designed to assess the nature and extent of an individual’s substance use, evaluate the individual’s emotional health status and provide recommendations for the best course of treatment. Drug and alcohol assessment services may be useful for both individuals and organisations that have identified an employee with possible drug and alcohol problems, to clarify the extent of the problems, provide treatment options, and to assess fitness for work.
