  • Partnering with the design and implementation of communication plans and strategies
  • Specialist change process implementation

Strategic change management processes can dramatically improve project outcomes, reduce tangible and intangible costs, and enhance the performance of individuals and teams affected by change. PsyCare Corporate offers strategic advice as well as hands on implementation options for ensuring effective change processes. We focus on areas such as communication plans, complex people issues, industrial risk, reporting processes, and follow through with implementation.

Employment Selection

  • Recruitment and selection strategy
  • Independent specialist assessment and screening of job applicants
  • Capability assessments
  • Behavioural interview design and development of interview guides
  • Joining panels as specialist panel members

Selecting people who are the right “fit” for a job and workplace is the first step in achieving high performance and meeting organisational key performance indicators. Too often employees are hired or promoted based on technical capability alone. Managers typically find that subsequent issues with staff are more related to poor interpersonal behaviours or conflict management. PsyCare Corporate provides tailored selection strategies and support for managers, workgroups, and organisations that focus both technical and non-technical capability. The selection of employees then focuses on three aspects relevant to work performance: “person-job fit”, “person-organisation fit” and “person-culture fit”. PsyCare can assist with an overall employment selection strategy, as well as specialist support through the process, for example reviewing resumes and shortlisting, designing interview guides, conducting behavioural interviews, joining technical experts on interview panels, conducting independent assessments for resiliency, leadership potential, and cognitive ability.

Early Intervention & Employee Assistance – Individual & Team

  • Employee assistance counselling
  • Remedial, developmental, and enhancement coaching
  • Strategies for the resolution of complex conflict management situations
  • Mediation – Alternate dispute resolution
  • Critical incident debriefing

Early Intervention is about employers recognising and identifying warning signs of workers suffering from psychological problems such as stress, anxiety and depression in the workplace and engaging psychological support to prevent further problems and maintain worker wellbeing, resiliency, and performance. Early warning signs include absenteeism, low morale, withdrawal and disengagement, performance problems and interpersonal conflict.

PsyCare’s Early Intervention Programs provide flexible approaches to managing stress, morale and performance issues utilising Consultant Psychologists that provide Coaching, Counselling, Mediation, Conflict Resolution, and Debriefing. Such professional assistance empowers people to find ways of functioning more effectively within the workplace concurrently reducing long term risks and costs to employers.

PsyCare Corporate’s psychologists all have training and expert coaching in both organisational and counselling / clinical intervention frameworks. As such, have a unique specialist ability to consider and advise on the issues of individuals involved, as well as the requirements of the workplace. The Consultant Psychologists are also able to advise senior managers on what types and formats of early intervention best suit their needs.

Performance & Disciplinary Processes

  • Strategic performance management and performance enhancement policies and processes
  • Delivery of performance or development plans and associated coaching
  • High level advice regarding disciplinary policies and processes

The focus of a strategic performance management or enhancement process is to develop and support staff to meet business objectives and operational KPI’s. When conducted effectively, it is a collaborative process that is mutually beneficial to both the supervisor and the supervisee from the perspective of support, development, as well as meeting business objectives and individual KPI’s. Many organisations have performance management processes but the utilisation of these is often poor. PsyCare Corporate can assist with high level strategic advice to leverage the needs of supervisors and ensure governance processes are in place. PsyCare also provides skills-focused workshops to Senior Managers and other supervisors to provide a concise framework for conducting performance processes. In the cases where a performance process would benefit from external intervention, a consultant can run the process and any associated coaching in conjunction with the relevant manager or supervisor.

Most managers find that the occasional situation arises in which an employee is not performing to the expectations of his or her position description or contract. In these cases, a performance or development plan and process forms the backbone to a disciplinary process. With a strong knowledge of employment law within the company, PsyCare Corporate can guide managers to understand their options and processes for disciplinary action.

Workplace Investigations

  • Workplace investigations conducted by consultants expert in investigative methodologies
  • Reporting on investigations for senior management providing opinions and recommendations
  • Tailored solutions and advice regarding relevant employment law

Organisations have a range of compliance obligations regarding effective people management in terms of industrial relations, workplace health and safety and equal opportunity and anti-discrimination, worker’s compensation and rehabilitation legislation. Where complaints and allegations are made regarding unfair treatment, bullying or harassment, discrimination, sexual discrimination or misconduct or official misconduct, employers must implement timely and professional investigation processes to enable fast and accurate decisions and timely follow up interventions and support. PsyCare Corporate, using the Crime and Misconduct Commission's 'Facing the Facts' Guidelines provide a full range of investigative services for workplace complaints relevant to the industrial relations, health and safety (psycho-social), equal opportunity/ anti discrimination and public sector legislative environment.

Beyond the investigation of complaints, proactive employers need to ensure they have updated clear policies and procedures and even more importantly need to have regular education and training to build a health culture free from bullying and harassment, promoting equity and minimizing stress—and where such issues occur effective and timely investigation and resolution processes. PsyCare Corporate conducts a range of PeopleRisk policy and practice reviews examining key people risks particularly in the areas of bullying and harassment, workplace stress, rehabilitation and early intervention, anti discrimination and equal opportunity and complaints and grievance processes and provides intensive training and awareness and culture change programs to maiximise employee understanding and compliance.
