About our Services - In Detail

Clinical psychological assessment and treatment

Clinical psychological assessments are designed to examine an individual’s current psychological functioning across a range of areas including family, work/academic, and social settings. The assessment involves a clinical interview to explore the individual’s history, objective measures of symptomatology and a review of current functioning with the goal of providing a diagnosis and clinical conceptualisation to guide future intervention.

Clinical treatment is aimed at addressing the psychosocial factors contributing to an individual’s current distress such as thinking patterns, behaviours, lifestyle issues, coping skills and interpersonal skills, by using evidence-based approaches to provide children and adults with positive behaviours and problem-solving strategies with the goal of restoring psychological well-being.

Workplace Rehabilitation Services

Best practice for managing workplace stress is about recognizing and identifying warning signs of workers suffering from psychological problems such as stress, anxiety and depression in the workplace and engaging psychological support to prevent further problems and maintain worker wellbeing and performance. Early warning signs include absenteeism, low morale, withdrawal and disengagement, performance problems and interpersonal conflict. PsyCare has developed a talented team of Consultant Psychologists that provide Clinical and Vocational Assessments, Counselling, Return to Work Planning, Mediation, Conflict Resolution and Debriefing. See our Corporate Page for further organisational development services.

Social assessments are aimed at examining a family’s current functioning, particularly for families in distress where there are concerns for the child’s welfare. Social assessments involve clinical interviews with parents, children and carers, as well as behavioural observations between child and parent/carer in a range of settings (i.e., home, school or other settings). These assessments provide an objective clinical picture of the family’s current strengths and weaknesses, identify areas of risk and provide recommendations for further intervention with the goal of improving family functioning.

Functional neuropsychological assessments

Functional neuropsychological assessments are designed to examine a wide range of cognitive skills including memory, attention, problem-solving, visuo-spatial skills, learning, and intellectual functioning, and are important in determining any underlying cognitive impairments impacting upon occupational/academic functioning. This leads to improved occupational, academic and/or social functioning through individualised rehabilitation strategies.

Medico-legal assessments

Medico-legal assessments provide expert clinical opinion regarding an individual’s clinical, occupational or social functioning in a medico-legal context, for example, in the legal or insurance sector. These assessments provide an independent and objective view on the individual’s current status, likelihood of future re-injury/re-offending, and recommendations for rehabilitation.
